Happy due date!!

I have had this day circled on my calendar for months and months. Even though she wasn't born on this day, it will always hold significance for me. It's the date I had thought about, planned around and anticipated since being told at our first ultrasound in Octber. It's still surreal to me that she is here and not in my belly. Sometimes, I think I feel her kicking and it takes a second for me to realize, wait, she's right here in my arms. I knew she was going to come early (not as early as she did though). After getting that phone call I was a nervous wreck but once we got to the hospital I knew we would be okay and was so ready to meet her! I think about the long months of anticipating her arrival, and how in just one second, she' here. I was changed forever when I looked into her eyes! Such a tiny, little girl has made the biggest impact on me and changed my life in more ways than I can count. My life is more full and my home is a happier place. All because of her.

This mommy finally has a hobby =)

SCRAPBOOKING!!!

I use to scrapbook in high school... well my version of scrapbook but I did enjoy it. I have tried a few times throughout the years to pick it up again but never would finish or even start it. NOW I have something perfect to scrapbook about and so far its been a lot of fun to do. My plans are to make 1 every year for Jacie. I just love the thought of her being 4 or 5 years old and
looking through the scrapbooks and me reading all the pages to her and showing her all the
pictures. I know my nieces love to look at pictures of them as babies and hear stories of them
so I want to do this for her!!

So here is my little preview of the pages I have done so far.

I typed up a short bit about my doctor appointments, I had an abnormal amount of appointments towards the end so I didn't write about every single one, but did at least 1-2 per month. I also still need to add stickers to my belly pictures with the number of month I was.

I printed out her birth story. On this page are pictures from the operating room

These are pictures taken in the hospital along with her pink info card from her hospital bed.

I will add her monthly page every month telling what she is doing now. This is her 0 month page.

and...her first bath page!

The next 2 pages are reserved for her newborn session pictures!! I can't wait to add more.

Tummy Time

Jacie's doctor told us we could start her on some "tummy time" today. Now I knew tummy time existed but was not really sure when to start it. I thought she still might be too young. So tonight we tried it for the first time. We placed her on her tummy during an awake time and had her head to one side for 10 mins and then turned it to the other side for 10. I think she did awesome at it!!! She was stretching her legs and lifting her head. She even moved her head to the other side twice. I thought she would just lay there and not do anything but she really did surprise me. I am so proud of her =)

Here are a few videos of tonight's performance!

2 weeks!

It is still hard to believe Jacie is even here yet alone that she is already 2 weeks old!! I got a message on my phone from my ipregnancy app (yes, I haven't deleted it yet) that my last doctor appointment would have been yesterday. I remember making those appointments probably 1 1/2 months ago and getting so excited knowing that June 10 would have been it and that on June 15 she would be here and here it is June 11 and she is already here and just perfect!

These last 2 weeks have been pretty great. Although I have never had a newborn before I really think she is an easy baby. She is eating about 2oz every 2-3 hours during the day, naps a lot and at night she is sleeping about 4 hours between each feeding! She really doesn't cry and only gets mad when she has been waiting too long for her food!!

Today we had her 2 weeks check up with the pedi. Jacie is doing great and has gained 12oz in the last week. She now weighs 5lbs 13oz. Although she is teeny and under the 10th percentile compared to a full term baby her growth is good. We go back in 4 weeks for her shots. Fun fun...

Can still fit into preemie although they won't fit for long!!

Not even making it to 9 months pregnant!

Just thought I would share my birth story. At my 34 wk, 6 day appt I was asked to do another 24 hour urine sample and another round of labs. I was warned at the appointment if my numbers weren't looking good baby was coming out. On Wed (5/26) I received a call from my doc office saying my urine was great so I thought "Awesome! We are in the clear!!" On Thursday I received another phone calling from the office and that one was not so good. My liver enzyme numbers were high and they told me to pack up and head up to l&d and I would be induced that night!!!!

Thursday night we arrived at the hospital at about 5:30pm. I was then hook up to my IV, Magnesium Sulfate because of my blood pressure and at another point during the induction hooked up to penicillin for +GBS. They placed the first round of cytotec at 7pm and received 3 more after that . By the next morning I was barely having contractions and haven't progressed at all. I was still were I started. 1cm!!! I then started pitocin. A few hours later, my doctor broke my water in hopes to get things rolling, but really had not much change. I was then moved around the bed in different positions. At 3pm I was rolled on my right side and then the contractions started. I dealt with them for a good hour and asked for the epi. The epi was a hard and long process. Sitting up straight for 45 minutes contracting not being able to move was horrible. The first epi was placed in a vein and could have caused me seizures, so I had the whole epi procedure done twice. After it was through I laid back down and they started the medicines. As soon as they began that my bp started dropping pretty fast. I then began to get sick because of it. They gave me rounds and rounds of meds to get it up and to get my stomach feeling better. All I could do was try to sleep because I was so miserable! Every time the doctors touched me or turned me over to check me I would throw up. I was then told if I hadn't made a huge jump at 8pm a c-section might take place. By 8 I was 4cm but baby wasn't low and my cervix still wasn't at 100%. She came back at 9:15, rolled me over to check me, again I starting throwing up and hadn't changed. My doctor decided it was time to get baby out!!

Jacie Ann was born Fri, May 28 at 9:56pm weighing 5lbs 5oz and 19in long, via c-section. Being only a 35 week baby NICU was there ready to take her. After she came out, I only saw her when they showed her to me before they took her out to get assessed. I was then wheeled back to my room and was told that Jacie would be in that night. At 1:15am she came in and we were told she was perfect. She had no problems and could stay with us the rest of our stay!!! Of course they kept a close eye on the whole time but never had to return to the NICU. I stayed on the magnesium until 5pm yesterday. I finally was able to get out of bed and start working through my c-section pain. We are getting released to go home tomorrow =)
