2 month appointment

was this morning. So off we went to the doctor with my list of questions and concerns and of course her daddy!! I knew I couldn't go through all of those shots alone!!! We arrived and she got weighed. 10lbs even!!! I was surprised, but pleasantly surprised. I thought she would be in the middle 9lb mark. We went back to the room and got her height measured and is now 21.5 inches long. She has grown 2.5 inches since she was born. The doctor came in and looked her over. Said she looked good and was very pleased with her growth.

I started explaining to her about our night time "issues." Since she has been about 4 weeks old she has started throwing up almost every night and becoming very fussy between 8-11pm. I thought she might have a bit of reflux but was not sure since it was ONLY at night. She said because her growth is good we could switch her to a formula to help with fussiness, gas and spit ups and then give it a few weeks and see how she does. We are going to start 4oz every 4 hours which should also help with sleep. If she is still acting like that she will prescribe a medication to help with acid reduction. So only time will tell...

We also discussed bed time. She told us she is now at a age where we can start her on a bed time routine and get her to stick to it. Most nights she is asleep by 11 but with school starting soon and both of us being back at work we would like her to go to bed by 8 or 9. So we are going start slowly and every night lay her down a little earlier each night. We can not pick her up but comfort her when and if she needs it. Her doctor said it could take 3-4 weeks for her to get it. Also we are going to start waking her up at 5am to get her in a morning routine. Although I would enjoy my last 3 weeks of summer to sleep as much as I can it is definitely worth doing for her...plus there are always naps!!!

Now on to the SHOTS!! The liquid "shot" she actually enjoyed. She was sucking it down like it was a bottle! It must have tasted mighty fine! The shots she did not enjoy so much but did a lot better than I expected. She got 1 in each thigh. They were quick but painful I am sure. I actually did good too, I only teared up!!

Next appointment is her 4 month appointment in September.

I'm a big girl now

She loves to sit up when she is awake and look around. We always just hold on to her but I decided to put her in the bumbo and see how she did. She is getting good at it!

She is very proud that she can do it!

Bustin' out!!

It seems like clothes that fit Jacie 1 day no longer fit her the next!! Did she just grow over night??? She is busting out of all her oneises she wears to bed and those are already 0-3 month. Gerber onesies run very small compared to Carter. Although the nb carter oneies I put on her yesterday where sooooo tight that it was hard to take them off!!! So now we are officially in 0-3 month Carter onesies and 3-6 month Gerber ones. SIGH...she is growing up!! So today it seems like we will be going on a shopping spree for some bigger ones today!!! As of right now the newborn clothes that are not onesies still fit and the 0-3 months are still too big but I give that maybe a month more, if even.

We also are officially starting size 1 diapers. We have about 1/2 a pack left of newborns and then we're moving right up. Those suckers are getting almost impossible to close.

I can't wait to find out how much she weighs at her 2 month appt! I still don't think she is 10lbs yet but ya never know! She is becoming a chunky monkey =) Hopefully by now her growth has caught up enough that she can now go off of the preemie formula. We'll find out on Friday!

I ♥ sleep!!

If you know me you REALLY know how true that is!!! During the school year I am in bed by 9pm. So the idea of a baby that did not sleep at night or got days and nights confused was something I was NOT looking forward too!! So you can imagine my excitement the first night Jacie slept longer than 2-3 hours at a time between feedings. That started at about 3 weeks old and it seems like as the weeks go by she adds more and more to her nightly sleep. For the past few days she has been sleeping 7-8 hours a night!!!! YAY!! This morning I even had to wake her up ;) We had to get up early so we could make breakfast for her daddy's birthday =) Hopefully this trend continues and when school starts again in 4 weeks (BOO!!) I won't become a zombie!!!

....speaking of zombie we have already decided on Jacie's halloween costume!!! A bumble bee of course!!! But I am getting ahead of myself. I just want to stretch summer out for as LONG as I can!!!!!!!!

Hiccups and tongue!

Oh the hiccups!!! Thinking back when I first felt her have them in my belly and how much I loved feeling them for the weeks to follow. Now that she is in the real world I never thought she would have them ALL the time!!! She normally HATES them and has super loud and hard ones but this video is pretty darn cute. She is happy with them and making adorable sounds!! That is why I posted it =) Any other video of how she normally acts when she has them wouldn't be as cute. The worst is when she is drowsy and I lay for down for bed and as soon as I walk away she get them!!! UGH! Of course she starts crying and get mad so then we have to start all over again. I sometimes think she can do it on purpose....gets her out of going to bed which can sometimes be a trial in itself.

This video shows how much she loves to play with her tongue. When she is awake she loves to just stick it in and out =)

6 week postpartum

Yesterday I had my 6 week doctor appointment. Its much different going in there with a baby in a stroller than having a baby in my belly. I am much less nervous that something could be wrong with me or even her. So I go in and again without fail I am not fully in the clear just yet. My blood pressure was high which of course means staying on my pills and keeping with the same dosage I was upped to at 27 weeks. I don't know why it was high again. When I went to my family doctor 2 weeks postpartum for my DTAP shot my blood pressure was perfect!! So... yes I am still living with the joys of this. I go back next month for my annual with her so again she will recheck my blood pressure. Hopefully some day soon my blood pressure "night mares" will only be a memory!!

Other than that everything else is great and I just can't believe it's been 6 weeks already!!!

Fourth of July

Jacie pretty much spent it just like she spends all her days...asleep! We spent the day over at my parents. My uncle and his family from Colorado were in town so we spent most of the day visiting, eating good food and swimming! I did stick Jacie's toes in the pool and she didn't like it one bit. It was also our first get together since Jacie joined the family. She got loved on by everyone!! My cousins and nieces are so in love with her and I can't wait for her to get a little older so she can then interact back with them. When we returned back home the evening was spent with mommy taking a 2 hour nap while daddy played with Jacie and then watching fireworks out of our bedroom window. It was a great day!!

Mommy diet and nighttime schedule

Yup...i said the word "DIET"!!! Last August I told myself I was going to get healthier so I lost a good 20lbs and then when I got pregnant with Jacie in October I was happy I no longer had to be on a "diet!" I wasn't the most healthiest pregnant person out there and did indulge in mostly unhealthy food but I had an excuse right? After all I only gained 18lbs with her so I think I did pretty darn good with my weight!! When I got home from the hospital I was down 10 of that and then throughout that first week home I lost another 2. This last month I have been hovering above 5-7lbs pre-pregnany weight. My stomach is no where near what it use to look like before. Its a bit flabbier!!! It's crazy that I can't button my pants I fit into when I was ONLY 5lbs lighter but fit perfectly into pants I wore when I was 20lbs bigger!!! My jeans on the other hand can button so that is still good news =) The main goal is to fit back into my work pants before well....WORK!! So...I start on Monday! Eating healthier and nightly walks with my family and maybe a morning walk with Jacie should kick start it up. I will probably also add some Wii fit or Mario DDR (I love that game) throughout the days also. I can no longer eat like I am eating for two!!! I have to do something!! Goodbye maternity clothes. I guess it's time to put them in storage!!

Last night was the perfect night for our family!! Even though we haven't completely set her up on a schedule I do know I want to start her on a nightly schedule so hopefully she will learn the cues for bedtime. We started at 8pm with a walk around the neighborhood, feeding when we got home, Jacie then took a 30-45 min nap, we bathed her, snuggled her for a bit, last feeding around 10:30 and then she fell asleep for the night. She woke up at 4:30am, ate, went back to bed and back up at 8:30!!! Jacie is doing awesome at sleeping- 6 hours in a row for a 1 month old!!!
